Ans: - Rip Van Winkle was a simple, sober and a kind neighbour. He was lazy. He had a dog named Wolf. When his wife scolded him for his laziness then he would go away into the mountains to hide from her. His daughter name was Judith. One day he and his dog climbed to the highest part of the mountains. In the mountain a strange man gave him a glass of pink water. After drinking it, he fell into a deep sleep for twenty years.

(b) Narrate what happened when Rip went back to his village after twenty years.

Ans: - When Rip went back to his village after twenty years his village had completely changed. The people of his village were also not familiar to him. His house had fallen down. People stared at him and the dogs barked at him.
